When Teka came to North Star from Missouri on August 8, 2013, she was heartworm positive. For the next few months she needed to remain in foster care while she received the three necessary injections to treat her disease. Her treatments required strict crate rest and hand-walking only for three months. Fortunately we had a potential adopter for Teka who was willing to foster her through these treatments in hopes to adopt her once she was healthy again.

We are happy to say that Teka has completed her treatments and has been adopted by her foster mom.

Hi Toni,

Just thought I would send an update on Teka. We are nearing the one year mark since she came into my home, it has flown by! Now I can't imagine not having her smiling face around. She is doing great, so sweet, so well behaved (most of the time - we have the occasional roll in poop day haha, but that's to be expected!). Teka likes to hang out under the bed. Not a huge fan of toys, just her nyla bone. Still haven't heard her bark, only in her sleep! She is good around little kids and everyone that sees her loves her. My mom is always asking to babysit because she is so easy and so nice to have around. All the neighbors at my moms "gush" over her - what a sweet dog, so pretty. All in all she has been great. I'm getting ready to make the appt for her heartworm check - fingers crossed! I'm attaching some pictures of our various adventures thank you so much for matching me up with this silly, wonderful girl!
