This is Leo. He is estimated to have been born around July 15, 2012 and is an Australian Shepherd mix. North Star found him and his two brothers at an Indiana shelter where they had been dropped off by their original owner. Leo's two brothers went to another rescue and Leo came to North Star on January 14, 2013 and is now safely in foster care. He is getting along great with his four legged foster brothers and sisters (canine, feline AND equine) and loves to play and try to herd them.

Around strangers Leo can be shy at first, but if given time and space to approach on his own - he is fine. For this reason Leo will require a home without children and preferably a yard with a physical fence. He is adjusting very well to his crate and house training.

Leo has already been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. If you are interested in adopting Leo you must apply and be approved first. You can find our online application at http://www.northstarbcrescue.org. His adoption fee is $250.00.

If you have any questions, please email his foster mom at: CarolineH@northstarbcrescue.org and be sure to check back often for new updates as we get to know him better.

Leo is being fostered near Brunswick, Ohio.

Leo went to his foster home in Ohio on January 20, 2013. Below is an update we received from Leo's foster mom just a few days later....

We are having a great time. Leo is such a loving fun hearted puppy. He loves to kiss and play. I think Maddie - my Border Collie puppy is his favorite toy... Lol. They have a blast together. Leo doesn't even mind getting trampled by her. He loves to play ball and eat!!! If there are treats around, he knows where. He is respectful of Turbo, my adult male Keeshond, and is settling in to the routine here.

Wow, I have been in Ohio for almost 2 weeks now! I am learning so much from my foster family. I am perfecting my potty training and sleep in my crate now - yes all night long. My foster mom is so happy she can sleep through the night ;) If I am good through the night; which has been 5 straight nights now; I get to cuddle in the bed with the humans for an hour in the morning. We watch the news as I snuggle under the covers while my foster mom rubs my belly and paws.

My athletic abilities are improving also. I am now chasing the dogs whom are chasing the ball. I even carry the frisbee and play keep away from my sister - she is the black and white dog in the pictures. I found a really nice place in the yard where I hide my sticks and toys but my brother always finds them. I can't get a break around here! They have taught me so much about sharing and being a good boy in the house.

The baby gate and I got off on the wrong foot but we have an understanding now. I leave the gate alone, and a treat falls from the sky. If I leave the gate alone for a really long time, a kong appears filled with peanut butter.....yummy

Check out my new pictures... I might just be a puppy model when I grow up!!!!

I hope the Flu has left the house so we can play outside soon. He has been a good sport while I was laid-up.

Leo has a new home in Michigan. He is quite the little traveler. Bob (his new owner) was wonderful and very understanding of Leo's shyness. He made me so happy that we waited for the best home. Mario (Leo's new brother, who by the way is also a North Star alumni) were great together and Leo liked walking under Mario like a mini brother... lol. He really loves Mario and that showed. Mario will still play flyball and Leo will be a lap dog cheerleader! Bob said he was sold when he saw the pictures of Leo cuddling in the bed... I am so happy he said that because I wanted someone to make sure that Leo gets all the love he so wants.

I must say, I will miss that little guy!

Bob is going to keep Leo's name.
