North Star Dogs who found their Fur-Ever homes!

Tugg

Postby Carole » Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:48 pm

Tugg came to North Star after we saw him and his brothers and sister listed on Craig’s List. The owner was passing the puppies out in a fast-food parking lot to anyone who wanted them, and although we tried to get the entire litter - by the time we could get there some of the puppies were already gone.

We were told they were Border Collie and Black Lab mixes and that the owner had the mother and a relative had the dad. The puppies were so young when we got them it was hard to tell what they were, but regardless, we felt they needed help and brought them into North Star on December 18. 2011. The entire litter consists of Tali, Tugg, Teko and Tank.

Tugg is the puppy on the left in the top picture.

The puppies were born the end of October, 2011 and even though they are getting older we still aren’t exactly sure WHAT they are mixed with. We definitely are seeing some herding behavior, and a couple of the boys have more of the laid-back personality of a Lab, but there is definitely something else in there too. We are thinking maybe some Jack Russell? But whatever they are…..they are playful, sweet and adorable.

Tugg can be a bit shy around new people and dogs but warms up quickly. Tugg loves to play in the snow, once in the house he is happy to lay near you and play with a squeak toy or chewing on a bone.

Tugg weighs 23 pounds and has just received his last round of shots, microchipped and neutered. He is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He sleeps at night in a crate, and is doing extremely well with his housetraining. We are working on leash walking and house manners.

If you are interested in adopting Tugg or any of our other North Star dogs, you will need to apply and be approved first. You can find our online application at: http://www.northstarbcrescue.org.

Adopted March 18, 2012 :D

Hi! This is Cassie, I just adopted Tugg from you =] I just wanted to let you know how well he is doing.
He is on a weird schedule right now because I work from 7am to 3pm on Monday through Thursday.
We get up at 5:15am to go potty and then we come inside and just hang out, then at about 5:40 we go for a walk, which usually lasts about a half hour. Then I am usually just in my room finishing getting around he will just sit on my bed and either fall asleep or chew on his bone you gave him =] I let him out once more before I leave at about 6:30am.
At about 9 or 9:15am my younger sister or my dad comes over to get him till I come home at 3:15. I try to hold him off for dinner until it’s between 4 and 5, when I eat.
After dinner, I take him for a walk again with my mom. Then we come home and just hang out and do house work until about 8 or 8:30 and then we hit the hay.

Sean and I took him to Sean’s parent’s house and he met Sean’s two brothers and mom and dad. He also was able to meet Sadie and Taffy, their two dogs. He did great!! He was a little sketchy at first but then he warmed right up and became friends. He also met my family. My mom, dad, and 4 sisters (He still has one sister and her family to meet). He also did great with them, totally fits right in and he loves them all already! They are all impressed with his manners.

He usually plays outside a lot with me. He sort of plays catch (usually only when he wants to haha), he loves tug-of-war, and to chew his bones.

I cannot explain how much I love this little puppy, and I thank you so much for training him so far. He is doing great and is so precious to me. He follows me all around the house =] I love the company and love being able to have him. I included some pictures of him for you guys also!!

Hello, I thought it had been a while since we updated you on tugg. He is about two And a spoiled little guy. He absolutely loves the water when we went up north. I'm pretty sure he can swim for days. He is listening better and better but if he gets out of the yard he just take off and man is he fast! He still likes to chew things occasionally but he is getting better as he is getting older. Cassie and I love this dog so much it's unbelievable. He fits in to our family perfectly. Here are some pictures of him.
