Brynn is a purebred Australian Shepherd born January 23, 2011. She came from working stock parents and is a very strong willed and determined little girl who will require an owner with Aussie experience AND a job to do. She is smart and learns very quickly - however this means she can learn bad behavior just as easily as appropriate behavior so we want to make sure she goes to the right home. Because of her strong personality Brynn will need to go to a home with adults only. She will need consistency in her training to make her into the amazing dog I know she can be.

Brynn has been respectful of my cats, but that could change as she matures. Right now she is too small to bother them much, even though she keeps trying. ;) She loves to play with the other dogs and does not let her size deter her from jumping right in the middle of things. She is already showing the bossy tendencies female herding dogs are known for – so she would probably do best in a home with male dogs.

Brynn has been microchipped, is current on all her vaccinations including Bordatella, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She is too young to be spayed at this time, so she will be adopted out with a spay/neuter contract. This consists of a $100.00 deposit that is held until proof she has been spayed, at which time the deposit is returned. Her adoption fee is $250.00.

If you are interested in Brynn, please contact her foster mom and Toni@northstarbcrescue.org.

Brynn is being fostered near Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Brynn is growing fast and is quite a whirlwind of energy. She is sassy, smart, high drive and quite a handful. We are constantly working on her manners as she does not always feel that rules should apply to her. ;) She is affectionate and loves to be with her people, but will try to resource guard her humans from the other dogs. Right now it is not a big issue as she is a puppy and the other dogs pretty much ignore her....but it still needs to be addressed consistently so that when she is older (and bigger) it does not lead to problems with other dogs.

Brynn is going to need a diligent owner ready to spend a lot of time working with her. Therefore, she cannot go to a home where she will need to be crated for long periods of time as she has way too much energy for that. Although Brynn is going to make someone a wonderful companion....she is NOT a companion level dog. She needs a job to do and someone with a lot of herding dog experience. Brynn will not go to a home with children, so please do not apply if this is your situation.

It is hard to believe that Brynn is just a week shy of being six months old! She is now all legs and starting to look more like a "teenager". She is exerting even more of her independence and does not like when the older dogs "correct" her for her puppy antics. She still wants to resource guard her things and thinks that everything in the world belongs to her....so we continually work on that.

Brynn is still looking for her special home with an experienced owner. Someone that will be able to challenge that busy mind of hers. She is an amazing dog and I love her to pieces....but she keeps me constantly on my toes. She is smart as a whip and learns things quickly (good AND bad). She loves being right next to me and is doing very well with her recalls at this time. However, she is entering her adolescent stage and so I expect that to be changing soon. This is the time you need to be extra diligent as she is no different than a rebellious teenager. But then it usually only lasts a year or so.

But just when she seems to be on my last nerve and I am ready to strangle her....she has the sweetest way of laying her head on my lap and looking up at me with that angelic face and she melts my heart. Yes, she knows EXACTLY what she is doing and how to get to me. ;)
