***COURTESY LISTING*** Lucy is believed to be a Border Collie/Australian Cattle dog mix, approximately 2-3 years of age. She loves to go swimming in the lake, running and playing with her doggie friend, Rider. She is doing very well on her recall while she is hiking and even while swimming towards geese on the lake. Because of her love of the water she might even be a dock diving prospect. This is what her foster mom had to say about Lucy : ” SPORT POTENTIAL! This dog would be fantastic for herding, flyball, and/or agility! Stellar toy and food drive, intelligent, quick on her feet, and agile. Miss Lucy is looking for a home and with her cuddly personality, I don’t know how she hasn’t found one yet.”
Lucy gets along well with most dogs, but would do best with dogs that aren’t dominate. She loves carrying a Kong around and is shy at first when meeting people, but warms up quickly and loves to lay her head on your knee. Lucy is crate and house trained, excellent on leash, but her prey drive comes out when she sees a cat so a “cat free” home is a must. She appears to be an Australian Cattle Dog and smooth coated Border Collie mix so we had her tested on sheep and she shows great interest. Like most dogs new to the sport she would need someone willing to work with her to build her confidence. She has good eye contact and checks in to seek guidance from her handler.
Lucy accepts correction nicely and does try to please. She has a very sweet nature and we feel that she will make a wonderful companion for an active person or as a second dog in a home with a playful dog her size.
